The record is coming along. Slow and steady wins the race. A good friend of ours has returned this week. His name is Squakie the bird and he is the producer of our up and coming record. He is eight years old and he can water ski. He has some brilliant ideas but we have a lot of trouble picking up what he is putting down. He has difficulty wearing headphones and opening the door to the studio when we are not around.
On Saturday night we played at Euge's little bro, Fabian's 18th Birthday party (well three members of the band did anyway). It was really a Johnny Cash, Beatles tribute show with a few of our tunes chucked into the mix. Eddy and Eugene were lost in the moment for an extended period of time and i was left to strike a poker face attempting to communicate that we were some what in control of the noise coming out of the guitar amps, mics and drums. Thank God the party had been on the gas since 3 PM that day.
On a more serious note, i have been lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy of Myles Mayo's solo album which is officially being launched at Jive bar on April 15 (next Friday). It is a brilliant record full of folky, poppy tunes. Catchy as fu*k. As the weather cools down, this record will make you smile, put ugg boots on your feet and a warm bowl of wheat bix on your lap. Myles yet again proves why he is one of Australia's best story tellers and he seems to do it with such ease.
Do yourself a favor and get along to Myles Mayo's album launch @ Jive Bar next Friday 15th
